COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS

Welcome to my class.  Your course of study will prove to be very difficult.  In addition to the course load, my expectation of your performance as students is very high.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND BEHAVIOR:

·         You are expected to be on time to class.  On time is defined as in your seat with your notebook open ready to work BEFORE the second bell rings.  Anything else is defined as LATE and will be marked accordingly and will result in a detention that same day.  Consider this your 24-hour notice.

·         This class will operate according to the guise of mutual respect and dignity.  In other words:

·         If I am talking, you are not

·         If one of your peers is talking, you are listening

·         You will raise your hand and be recognized before you speak

·         You are responsible for your actions.

·         No one but you made you not do your homework.

·         No one but you made you late to class.  No one will be admitted without a late pass.

·         No one but you failed to complete your project on time.

·         No one made you act up in MY class.

·         No one made you wait until the night before to print out your assignment only to find that your printer has malfunctioned or is out of ink.

·         You are expected to have the proper materials for class every day.   Materials needed include, but are not limited to:

·         Textbook (covered).

·         Notebook (one designated for my class ONLY).

·         Pen or pencil (one WILL NOT be provided for you should you forget).

·         Any and all materials necessary for any project, long-term or short-term, that you might be working on at the given time.

ATTENDANCE:

Attendance is very simple to follow.  YOU ARE EXPECTED TO BE HERE ON TIME EVERY DAY.

·         Should you have an EXCUSED absence, you will have three (3) days in which to submit any work that was due the day you were absent, and any summary work.  IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BRING THE WORK TO ME IN THIS TIME FRAME.  SHOULD YOU FAIL TO DO SO THE MISSING WORK WILL EARN A GRADE OF ZERO (0) - NO EXCEPTIONS.

·         Should you have an UNEXCUSED absence you will receive a 0 (zero) for all work missed that day INCLUDING PROJECTS AND/OR EXAMS.

GRADING:

Everything that you do will have an assigned grade to it.

HOMEWORK                   25%      (NO LATE HOMEWORK ACCEPTED.)

EXAMS                          40%

PROJECTS                     30%      (You will have one major project per quarter.)

PARTICIPATION   5%     (Remember positive participation helps - negative participation hurts.)

N.B.:  PLAGARISM OF ANY KIND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, WHETHER IT IS A RESEARCH PAPER OR A NIGHTLY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT!  I WILL NOT TURN A BLIND EYE TO ANY FORM OF CHEATING AND IT WILL BE DEALT WITH IN THE HARSHEST OF MANNERS!  THERE WILL BE NO HESITATION ON MY PART TO INVOLVE ADMINISTRATION AND MAKE SURE THAT NO LENIENCY BE HELD IN YOUR REGARD!  I DO NOT AND CANNOT STAND THOSE WHO TRY TO PASS OFF THE DILIGENT EFFORTS AND WORKS OF OTHERS AS THEIR OWN!  THIS BEING STATED, YOU ARE CLEARLY FOREWARNED OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS SHOULD YOU CHOOSE NOT TO CLEARLY CITE YOUR SOURCES OR SHOULD YOU FAIL TO COMPLETE YOUR OWN WORK IN A TIMELY FASHION.

EXTRA HELP IS AVAILABLE; ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK!  Give me at least a day’s notice.  Any other questions you can e-mail me: pwax@fairfield.k12.ct.us
